Troy Pappas is the founder and owner of Safe House Property Inspections, a comprehensive home inspection company serving the Hampton Roads area since 2008. What began as a solo venture during one of the most challenging periods in real estate history has grown into a thriving network of inspection services that went from completing 12 inspections in his first year to now where thousands of inspections are performed annually.

 

With over seventeen years of experience in the home inspection industry, Troy has built his reputation on a foundation of integrity, expertise, and client-focused service. His approach is straightforward: provide clients with the information they truly need, not just what can be sold to them. This philosophy, inspired by a lesson learned early in life about the value of honest service, has become the cornerstone of every business he operates.

 

Troy's commitment to professional excellence is demonstrated through his extensive continuing education. He holds over 40 specialized certifications from the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI), covering every aspect of residential property inspection, from advanced electrical and plumbing systems to HVAC, roofing, structural issues, septic systems, pools and spas, mold inspection, energy audits, and wind mitigation. This comprehensive training ensures that every inspection is thorough, accurate, and backed by deep technical knowledge.

Beyond his expertise as a home inspector, Troy is a home services entrepreneur who understands that homeowners and real estate professionals need more than just property inspections. Recognizing gaps in the market and opportunities to deliver seamless service, he founded HCJ Pool Services , Pest Heroes, and HCJ Holiday Lights as sister companies to Safe House Property Inspections.

 

This business acumen is no accident. Troy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Old Dominion University (2003), providing him with a strong foundation in financial management and business strategy. He has further invested thousands of hours in world-class business coaching and leadership training, including extensive work with Inspector Empire Builder (IEB) and Tony Robbins' Mastery University. This commitment to continuous learning, combined with hundreds of hours at service business conferences, has shaped his strategic vision and equipped him with the tools to build not just successful companies, but thriving teams.

A Hampton Roads resident with deep ties to the community, Troy served in the United States Marine Corps and later settled in the area following his father's Navy career. He is the father to three amazing young adults who are pursuing their own dreams. When he isn't working, Troy can often be found on the golf course, a tradition he started with his sons during their high school years and continues to prioritize as a way to maintain balance and connection.
